Do you regularly find yourself standing in front of a bursting wardrobe and hear yourself saying, I've got nothing to wear?
Well, you are not alone.
According to Mandy Hargreaves, fashion expert and director of the personal stylist and at-home shopping service, Shopping By Appointment, most women only use 20% of their wardrobe.
Most women don't understand their body type or know how to find clothes that emphasise the best parts of their figure, Mandy said.
What we end up with is a wardrobe full of clothes that we dislike or simply cannot wear.
As well as this, our increasingly busy lifestyles can make it an absolute chore to go clothes shopping, especially if children are involved.
Mandy recognised this need after listening to her customers at her Sunday market clothing stall on the Sunshine Coast and, in 2005, Shopping By Appointment was born.
Speaking for the first time in Brisbane at Essence of a Woman The Ultimate Woman's lifestyle expo this Sunday, Mandy will discuss how she helps women reconnect with their bodies, particularly after babies, and how to love the skin they are in, despite areas they may be self-conscious of.
Everybody has those areas they dislike. I call them paranoia areas, Mandy said.
Mandy will also draw on her extensive background in retail and her desire to help women at the expo enjoy opening their wardrobes, getting dressed and shopping for themselves again.
Joining Mandy will be a host of speakers, including TV and media personality Tottie Goldsmith, whose rollercoaster lifestyle screeched to a halt in 1997 when she was diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.
Tottie will explore the relaxation techniques she used in the recovery of this relatively unknown illness, and will provide the audience with tools and techniques to better deal with their hectic lifestyles.
The expo will be held on Sunday from 9am to 5pm at the Brisbane City Hall in King George Square.
It will feature an array of exhibitors, entertainment, retail therapy opportunities and guest speakers.
Pre-purchase tickets are $15 and $20 at the door.
A percentage of the proceeds from the event will go to the Olivia Newton-John cancer centre appeal. Olivia is Tottie's aunt.
